Cristiano Rizzotto, a Brazilian organist, will perform at Grace Lutheran Church (320 E Main St, Mankato) on Thursday, July 17 at 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Rizzotto was born in Rio de Janeiro and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) where he graduated Magna cum Laude in 2010. In 2009, sponsored by the Brazilian government’s Ministry of Education, he studied at East Carolina University (United States) and returned to Brazil to graduate and serve as organist of the city’s Benedictine Abbey, owner of the oldest organ in South America and where the tradition of the chants and liturgy has been kept fresh and alive by the Carioca monks since the 16th century.
Mr. Rizzotto returned to the United States in 2011 to earn a Master’s Degree in Sacred Music/Organ, completed in 2013. Currently he is pursuing his doctoral studies at the American Organ Institute at the University of Oklahoma School of Music, where he is also a Graduate Assistant at the organ shop and serves as the Director of Music and Organist at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Duncan, Oklahoma.
Cristiano Rizzotto received a Service Playing Certificate and is a Certified Guild member of the American Guild of Organists (2012). The Sioux Trails Chapter of the American Guild of Organists have enjoyed many years of performing summer recitals on our Hendrickson organ and, along with the congregation of Grace Lutheran Church, is excited to share this incredible, talented individual with our community.
