Musical Tributes

Dr. Charles Luedtke performs "Herzlich tut mich verlangen, Op. 122, no. 10" and "Herzlich tut mich erfreuen, Op. 122, no. 4" by Johannes Brahms.

The instrument in Winthrop was one of the first in Southern Minnesota to have a Rückpositiv.  In these recordings, you will see that the Rückpositiv is absent - off in the shop for repairs to the electrical system.

Emily Bruflat, Cantor at First Lutheran, performs "Finale: Andante from Sonata No. 6" by Felix Mendelssohn. 
​Dr. David Fienen performs "Sonata, op. 84, mvt. 1" by Jan Bender.  

David notes that the Bender Sonata was commissioned for the inaugural recital series of the Hendrickson, Op. 45, and was premiered in 1981.

Dorothy Williams performs "Come, O Come, Thou Spirit of Life" by Johann Kirnberger.  

Dorothy shares this memory:  "Charles invited me as organist, along with my children, to come to his shop on weekends and “help” build our organ. He suggested pipe screens made of “Mayflowers”, individual little ships designed by members; the whole church participated. We loved working with him and his staff, especially Eric and Andreas."
